Adopted: A personal Journey
A photojournalism project done in 2013 to showcase my attempt at finding my birth mother and possible sister(s). Although my conclusion is unresolved, it shows the process of finding lost family through the use of narration and pictures. I still have not contacted or done anything else to find my birthmother. Life gets busy and things fall through the cracks, but someday I may pick up where I left off.
Picture of my adopted father holding me for the first time. The butterfly sticker on the photo was put on me at that meeting by my sister whom I have not met.
One of the two wooden angels that my adopted mom (lower right) purchased before finding out the agency had a baby for them to adopt. My birthmother (upper left) has the second angel.
Notes taken over the phone by my adopted mother about my birth mother. My first time seeing this, I was 18 years old. Much of what it says was hard for me to read at first.
My private investigator that was hired to help me find my birth mother and possible sister(s). I still have not contacted him since I did this project even though I was so close. Maybe someday I will again, but for now that Is very difficult considering that I am currently living in Vietnam.
The social worker that was assigned to my case during my adoption looks out the window of her home as we discuss my case.
She was able to uncover some very interesting facts about the agency that I came from and details behind my adoption. The agency that I came is no longer active due to criminal activity within the organization. They would tell six families that they had a baby for them to adopt, all six would end up paying the fees and other expenses but only one family would actually get the baby. I was one of those babies.
A microphone and the only pictures of my birthmother lay scattered on the table at the last meeting I had with my private investigator. It has been nearly 2 years since I have done anything to find her and I am not sure when or if that day will come.
Sour Dough: Eating and Baking With Passion
The process of making naturally fermented sour dough is a delicate and complicated process but the end result is a true thing of beauty.
